Earliest meeting: Wednesday 4th May 1803
Final meeting: Friday 4th June 1819
The small settlement of Maddington in Wiltshire, some 6 miles south east of Amesbury, could call on a population of less than 350 and had fewer than 75 houses in the settlement. However, it organised a three day race meeting in May 1803, holding it on the Winchester course. Further meetings were organised In April 1804 (with weights allocated as if the meeting had fallen in May), June 1805 and May 1806, holding them at the local Stockbridge racecourse, and boasted an ‘A’ list of supporters including Lord Sackville and Lord Somerset. Meetings continued until a final card was staged on Friday 4th June 1819, with the concluding Maddington 4 mile Stakes being won by the Mr Goddard owned Anticipation.
